Our judges, Maggie Cullen and Sue Prince, selected the paper sculpture ‘Humming Bird’ by Judi Cook to win he prize of a solo show at the Courtney Gallery – which the gallery will announce in due course.

In addition, they wished to commend the paintings ‘Shaped Reflection’ (acrylic & Indian ink) by Peter Robertson and ‘Workington Main’ (watercolour) by Andrew Flack. ‘

Visitors to the exhibition were also invited to vote for their favourite exhibition entry and 330 people did just that. The winner was ‘Birch Trees’ by Peter Watson, with 24 votes, followed by ‘Staithes in a Tumble’ by Steph Trethowan with 17, ‘Sunset’ by C. J. Stanton, with 10, ‘Colour Splash’ by Julie Lindsay with nine and ‘Elite Cinema’ by Alan Fernihough, also with nine.
