Young Poet’s

Young Poet’s Competition judge this year is: MATT BRYDEN. Matt’s teaching career has taken him to places as varied as Tuscany, the Czech Republic, Poland and South Sudan. He teaches poetry for the Poetry School and worked with the Arvon Foundation on their Teachers as Writers project 2016. Matt has written and taught courses for the charity Story Door, which aims to improve literacy levels among disadvantaged students across the South West by sharing poems, inspiring them to write and fostering an enthusiasm for poetry. Matt also organises the Somerset Young Poet’s Competition.

The theme for this year is MEMORIES and entry is FREE!

Age groups: 9-12 years,  12 years and over

Prizes in each age group will be awarded as follows:

1st  £25 gift token
2nd £15 gift token
3rd  £10 gift token

When your poems are written, you can post your entry to the Ashbourne Festival Office using the address at the bottom of this page or scan your entry and email to us by clicking here and adding your entry as an attachment.

The closing date for receipt of entries is 29 April 2017.
