Poetry in the Garden £7.50 no concessions
Saturday 24 June 2017 at 2.30pm
Offcote Grange, Offcote, Ashbourne DE6 1JQ
Matt Bryden will be reading at the very popular Poetry in the Garden. He will also be presenting the prizes for the annual Rotary sponsored Young Poets competition, which he has judged, and you can hear the winning work at the event and now read it on the Young Poet’s web page. Once again this will be in the beautiful surroundings of Chris and Pat Walker’s garden at Offcote Grange. If you like poetry, gardens and cake there is no better place to be on a hopefully, sunny June afternoon.
Matt’s teaching career has taken him to places as varied as Tuscany, the Czech Republic, Poland and South Sudan. He teaches for the Poetry School and worked with the Arvon Foundation on their Teachers as Writers project 2016. Matt has written and taught courses for the charity Story Door, which aims to improve literacy levels among disadvantaged students across the South West by sharing poems, inspiring them to write and fostering an enthusiasm for the medium. Matt is also trained in using poetry with dementia sufferers in care homes, and worked on the Making of Me project, for which he received mentoring from John Killick. Matt also runs the Somerset Young Poets Competition.
