Take me home
For those of you who missed our end of installation stall at St Oswald’s, our little people will be available in exchange for a small donation on our stall in Victoria Square from 5.30pm on Late Night Shopping evening. They make great Christmas gifts and are no trouble to look after. Don’t miss this opportunity to get a memento of this unique project.
Explore Ashbourne with your family this Christmas period and whilst you’re busy, why not have a go at our Scavenger Hunt. It’s perfect for keeping the whole family entertained and a great way to see all the best places in town. Pick up a copy of the Christmas in Ashbourne brochure (readily available in shops) and use the centrefold map to locate a series of clay figures placed in shop windows by the town’s many producers.
There are twenty figures to find and when you do, take a quick picture and using the tags #ashbournescavengerhunt and @visitashbourne post them on Instagram and Facebook. Happy hunting!
Our Game Terracotta Figures
Our Game is a huge community project celebrating Ashbourne’s Shrovetide football game and will be on display in St Oswald’s Church throughout the festival. Created by Sarah Heaton and Helen Cammiss of The Clayrooms pottery in Ashbourne and hundreds of local children and adults at a series of organised school visits and pop-up workshops in town, this installation of around 5000 small terracotta figures represents the supporters and players. Forget the Terracotta Warriors, this unique art installation is the real ‘must see’ and will be open from 16 June to mid September in St Oswald’s Church, Ashbourne.
The delivery of this project represents the culmination of a very successful partnership between the Clayrooms and Ashbourne Arts and is a highlight of this year’s festival.
One of the many pop-up workshops was hosted in March by our local branch of Costa Coffee, use the link below to see what happened on the day.
